learning with my 30D and 70 - 200 L IS

In the first shot, there is a pole or something coming out of his head. It's best to avoid things like that in the background when possible.

The second picture seems just a tad overexposed. Also, you should think about whether you want to show the background or not. In this case the background is not very interesting. Since you have the 70-200 2.8, back up, zoom up near 200, open up the aperture to really get some nice bokeh and separate the subject from the bland background.

That's a great lens, wish I had one. Keep working at it and I'm sure you're going to make some great images. :)

thanks the pole is the door frame.. hmm i might PS that out.. and thanks for tips on the second shot..

I love playing with photos so I did a quick edit on the first photo to see what would come of it.. Basically it's an adjustment of levels, and a gaussian blur layer that I erased his little face to keep it sharp but blur the background a bit more.. bumped up contrast & brightness a bit also.

Sweet photos though. He's adorable and I think you're doing a great job.

The pictures are so cute! The only thing I woudl recomend is that you think about your composition more and work on framing the shots! Have fun!
