Ive found a Sigma 28-200 lens going cheap, and I was wondering if it was compatable with my 350d? I was told I'd better check before I bought it!

Thanks,
Tom

If it is a Canon mount, then it should work.

If it's a Canon EF mount it may well work as is or may need to be rechipped by Sigma, a minor chore, I'm told.

Blimey quick replys!

lol it says
Sigma 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 DL Hyperzoom Macro 4 Canon

Specs:
This is the Professional Sigma 28-200mm DL Hyperzoom lens. It is the DL version - offering the fast autofocus system and superior optical and build peformance. The lens works perfectly with both Canon film and digital SLR cameras. This lens is a very highly rated professional Sigma autofocus zoom lens

Please note:- Please check compatability with manufacturer if you are using this lens on digital cameras because sigma lenses may need chipping or your firmware upgraded, we will not provide returns or refunds if you buy this for digital and find it is not compatible with your camera.

So Im supposing it should be fine?

Based on this caveat, I wouldn't necessarily suppose that it should be fine. However, I did find at least one Digital Rebel user among the reviews here http://www.photographyreview.com …-1/productreviewscrx.aspx (external link) and he did not mention any compatibility issues. However, there could still be issues with newer Canon DSLRs such as the XT and 20D

That sounds like the disgusting seller on australian ebay called margfra!
i.e - he promises everything but accepts responsibility for nothing!!!

Let's see- the seller states that that it WILL work on canon DSLR's ........then admits that THEY HAVE NO IDEA .They have probably not even tried it.
Added to this the rediculous use of 'proffessional' to describe the very cheapest lens of it's type in the sigma line and you can see why i'm getting mad
I absolutally hate sellers like this!

The fact is many sigma lenses of the last few years SIMPLY WON'T WORK on the latest canon bodies such as your 350D.I suspect this one does not but the seller doesn't want to admit it.
AVOID THIS AUCTION .You are very likely to get stuck with a dud lens
