This is a photo of a soldier in the Household Cavalry the duty of which on state occasions is to provide an Escort to the Sovereign, H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. His regiment is the Blues and Royals and he is a Royal. Usually mounted on their horses it was different to photograph a trooper on foot sentry duty at Horse Guards, London. Ceremonial duties aside he is also a trained combat soldier as a crewman in an armoured reconaissance vehicle.
