trying the grainy b&w look:
proof that 700+mm is just not enough:
i am VERY impressed with the colors from the 24-70:
and another shot of the foliage (added some warming filter):
WOW Snir!! Thought you had a point and shoot! Dante

I was just thinking about the nature of this thread and everything else. "Pointless" as this thread may be at least everybody (sorta) gets along. I've been going through some other threads and it seems that as advice goes, whichever faction shouts the loudest wins, regardless of whether this advice is technically well founded. I've spent virtually my entire DSLR owning time with IS lenses and understanding the true nature of the beast, and yet folks still tell me what I can and cannot do with blanket statements like "IS is useless on a short focal length" (is not, it saves me shots), and "You can't get a subject to stay still at 1/15" (yes I can and no sedatives need to be applied), or "bump ISO" (try that when I'm at 1600 on an XT or 3200 on a 5D). Of course since I am just one person it becomes impossible to out-shout them. Someone is even trying to tell me how to use an aperture.... OH GOOD GOD, like I don't know my basics? Wow, like one of my crew used to say, "I may LOOK ugly and stupid, but I assure you, I am ONLY UGLY!" Well then Canon must be stupid making them for us, right? And I'm even stupider for using it. Either that or something is very wrong with the clueless mob. I'm glad Canon makes the tools that I need, rather than pointless blanket statements. Sorry for the rant, I am tired and annoyed.. and I feel like saying "Go and believe whatever you want to believe" instead of trying to help n00bs making a decision and getting told I'm stupid and out-shouted. haha, i have no idea where this came from but i agree

Yes, I must have missed whatever thread you are talking about, but I agree too. It's been a particularly "harsh" week on a lot of threads I've viewed. One wedding photographer got filleted for no good reason, on another thread it's completely polarized with one side acting like the other is just a bunch of stupid morons....I'm glad this thread is still running too. .. Cat has responded. and Dante, thanks for checking out the gallery ![]() I am still waiting for him to accept or deny my truce treaty "You are going to fall off a cliff trying to get a better shot someday"- My hopeful and loving wife
