About to puch the "buy" button on this one! Wanted this lens for a good amount of time now...Are there any known problems or things I should look out for with either the lens or the vendor? Can anyone vouch for either? Thanks! Vinny

Mine works great on both the 5D and the 1D2N. Same when I had the 350 and the 20. Go ahead.

Thanks for the fast reply! I was using the Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 EX Macro, and loved the IQ, would this be similar in terms of IQ ?

Never tried it, I went straight towards the Canon 70-200. Can't help on this.

this lens has been known to have QA issue. people usually have to send it back to sigma to get it fixed/adjusted. if you get a good copy, then the lens is great for the money.

i bought one and had focusing issues with it. i returned it since i didn't want to deal with sending it to sigma. i end up with the sigma 17-70 instead.

Good lens. Had one for a while and was happy with its performance. I can't see any clear and consistent IQ difference betwen shots taken with it and my 24-105mm IS L and 17-40mm L. USM and IS are nice to have tho', but dunno if they are worth the extra. I would have another EX no problem as they have always done a job for me. If you have a problem then send it to SIgma to fix, same with the 24-70mm L. No big deal. Free fine tuning.

I think you'll like this lens a lot, especially when you consider its price, build-feel, fairly quick AF (albeit buzzy), and very good optics. A fine EX lens.

I just got one second hand and the autofocus was screwed up...one shot would be clear and the next blurry, but manual was fine. Just sent it to Sigma to see how much to fix, no warranty as I don't have purchase info. :( It sure is noisy compared with the Canons.
But the pictures that turned out non-blurry were quite good.

My friend just sent his back because it was front focusing at 24mm at F2.8.

My impressions when I tested it:
-zoom and focus ring are sluggish and don't feel nice
-autofocus is loud and high pitched but decent in speed.
-Image sharpness wide open is on par with my L at the very center. Quality goes down towards the edges by alot while the L holds up very nicely.
