Another try and converting something to look like a painting or art or something? What do you think?

Does anyone have a good tutorial on creating a water color? I've recently discovered the "underpainting" filter which is a nice start, but where do I go from there?

Happy Day and comments welcome... good, bad, and ugly.. :)

I agree. The shot is nice but the effect doesn't work with it.

AHH... Thanks for the Edit Stephanie... I was there at one point.. I just was going for a more "breezy" feeling if that makes sense.... I've been playing with it all night. It's such a crappy shot to start with because of the high ISO noise and lack of light in the room.. My feeble attempt to save it because it's so precious. The trouble I keep running into with converting is the dark heavy eyes, eyebrows, etc... I love the softness in the first "TV SCREEN" looking one.. just need to figure out how to make it more of a watercolor without loosing the color/contrast quality.. know what I mean..

Thanks for the edit.. it was soooo nice of you to play with this.... I really do love it, maybe someone will come up with a solution.

Happy Day!! :)

OOOHH... You're good.. now we're getting places! What is paint daubs? Is it a filter? I'm only working with PS 7 so maybe I have limitations... I'm going to look real quick. I was just about to go to bed... see what you've done! :)

I have spent too much time playing with this, but I'm loving what you have there... could use a tweak or two maybe, but definitely on the path of my vision.. You're awesome!! :)

um, I'm using elements

First I auto adjusted lighting, then i put a white layer on top and adjusted the opacity of the white layer until i liked it, and then i did the paint daubs as a filter.

Okay, we are close then. I used curves to lighten it... then added a saturation layer and bumped it up some, then added a brightness/contrast layer and bumped both some... finally duplicated the original layer and added the filter... I found it.. I used the brush size at 14, sharpness 40 and type = simple.

Here's what I got... looks good on my screen, but when I downsized it from the huge original, it look like the details got lost.. will be interesting to see how it posts here.

Darn... doesn't show up on the downsize... Here's a smaller crop to magnify... wonder if I should use a larger brush for a more dramatic effect?
