Well I bought the lense today.

I've noticed that that serial number does conflict with the "bad batch" as listed in the sticky. However I havn't notice any problems with whatsoever.

I'm going to go shoot with it today so i can determine whats what. I'll make sure i take some vertical shots with a various settings.

What exactly should i be looking for?
Also
Is this something that will occur over time? Or is it more of a yes or no situation? It either has it or doesn't?

Check here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=186187. Some have noticed right away, some over time and some, even though S/N was in the affected range, didn't notice it at all. Symptoms include softness, either in the corners or more generalized in the frame. I didn't notice it on my copy, but sent it in and Canon replaced (going from memory as to exact nomenclature) a lens set.

I don't have any of the original packaging and or receipts and whatnot. How does this work? Do you have to have your warranty card filled out or something?

I had to send a copy of my warranty card when I submitted the lens. However, there are a few steps to follow before you get to that point. I'd recommend reading the thread and checking some of the Canon links in the posts.
