I decided to continue with this thread instead of opening a new one, sorry if it bothers... Well, decided to go digital, but now I am again into another fu***** dilemma...

350D + EF-S 18-55mm + EF 70-200 f/4L + Giottos Large Rocket Air Blower + Giottos Lens Cleaning Set + Lowepro Orion Trekker II + SanDisk 1gb Extreme III = U$D1415

20D + EF-S 18-55mm + EF 75-300mm + Giottos Large Rocket Air Blower + Giottos Lens Cleaning Set + Lowepro Orion Trekker II + SanDisk 1gb Extreme III = U$D1355

The difference is U$D60... What do you guys think?

This will save you a few bucks, go with an ultra II CF card insted of the extreme. The only real advantage of the extreme III is its operating temperatures. So if your not going to be shooting in the artic or death vally then go for the Ultra II.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

Ditch the Extreme and get the Ultra II as already mentioned... get the 20D and save a little longer or buy second-hand to get the 70-200, imho.

Money is always an issue, and most people would say chase the glass before the camera. I'd say go 350D and 70-200 f/4 absolutely.
For a walk-about zoom, the Sigma 17-70 is a great one, but the kit lens will be adequate. the kit lens from your film camera will work on the digital SLR just fine, but it starts out a bit long - 28mm on a digital crop SLR is the equivalent of 45mm on a film camera.

If the 17-70 pushes you over budget then either make do with the lens you already have and save, or just get the kit lens 18-55 ( which is what I did, I already had a 28-80 but I like wide)

The advice to get reasonable lenses now and upgrade over time is not bad. there is nothing wrong with the kit lens that bright light and f/8 won't fix!

^^ditto on the 20d and 70-200. You will never regret the purchase of higher end equipment.

Oh, and about the 75-300mm:

Primary complaint: soft between 200-300mm. This lens is notorious for this particular problem.
Also, very CA prone.
I've heard of it having slow AF.
And rotating front filter/extending body just screams "cheapness!!!" - you won't have these on the L.
