Ok so I have been reading through threads where people say what <edit>lens</edit> they want. Then some one comments back saying it would weigh to much why is this.

Because to let in more light requires a bigger opening. Therefore, it requires more glass and more lens body. This is especially true as lenses get longer, because you need a bigger opening to let in the same amount of light as with a wide angle lens. Also, having a lens with a constant aperture over a zoom range requires it to be bigger, because it can't narrow as it zooms like one with a variable apeture.

I think you maybe referring to the lenses instead of the cameras. For example, the 70-200 f2.8is weighs 3.2lbs vs. the f4 version which weighs less that half that. Much more glass used in the f2.8. Hope this helps.:)

That's very simple.....the widest aperture rated cameras are 1 Series. They are naturally the heaviest. The reason for that is because they have a heavy duty lens mount. Therefore, you can mount a wide aperture lens on them without starting to bend the focal plane. Otherwise that would ruin many pictures taken with very wide apertures where focal plane is very thin and fragile....i.e., it can get easily deformed.

The sensor lubricant is a thicker viscosity, also.

Naturally, otherwise you'd get the mirror slapping itself silly all the time because of lubricant thinning which would be caused by higher heat influx thru wider apertures.
Yes, that's a rather elementary fluid mechanics consideration, yet you have observed it very aptly.

Hmmm, and I thought the extra weight was due to the internal cooling system and the quantum particle trap.

The 1.3 jigawatt flux capacitor is what cleans up the temporal noise though.
