That's pretty cool...whatever you did to the eyes...in a sci-fi sort of way. I could see this as a book cover or movie poster!

Nah, cool effect. It works for this image. For some reason it really reminds me of the box cover from the PC game "Thief".

That is pretty awesome! though He looks a little evil to be jedi (nevermind that sentence..forgot how the rules of good and bad work :) );) My little brother would love this shot, if he could somhow be the subject. Great work!

Thank you Screamer and Livinthlife! If you want to recreate it for your brother is pretty easy! A dark brown towel over the head and one diffused flash above the subject to his right! After that all I did was burn in some areas and dodge the eyes! Oh and play with channel mixer a bit:)

hehe, I do love lighting more than anythign in photography! It is so fascinating to me and I too am dying for a lighting setup. I love the 580ex though and to be honest with you, using a little imagination I have gotten it to do pretty much everything I have wanted so far! I highly recomend it above any lens or camera body as your next purchase!

Nice job. Very effective... Looks like something you'd see on a poster advertising a film at the cinema.

Was reading your comments on flash guns. I'm new to indoor stuff and lighting and was thinking to purchase a flash of some sort. Was looking at the 430EX as it's smaller and more portable. Think it can be remoted too.

Thanks 52k! The size and portablitily of the 430 and 580 is the same, but you get more functionality with the 580! More power and the ability to use it as a master if you ever get another flash! Of course the cost is quite a bit more too though, but IMO it is worth it
