Awesome! Finally some competition for that 18-200VR from Nikon. If only SIgma put HSM on it... I'd buy it.

Yup...only if it had HSM!

Interesting. If its anything like the Nikon, this will be a great lens.

I'm still hoping Sigma will come out with an OS Bigma - they really need to fill the market with OS Sigmas...

They can go 2 ways with this lens, firstly they could be planning on making this a top quality lens, improved optics, OS, a lens that will beat all others in terms of focal range etc..

Or the other thing which im thinking is more nearer to the mark is that they probably dont sell many of the 18-200 lenses because the optics are not very inspiring, the OS system may be quite cheap for them to manufacture now & so by putting OS into the 18-200 its altogether a more attractive lens.

If the optics were as good as my 17-70 I would seriously consider selling mine & getting the 18-200 OS, but I cant see that happening somehow, I dont think you can have that much of a range while keeping the quality up.

It will be interesting to see some test results when its out.

Nick :-)

I'll assume then that this lens will be exclusive to the Canon, Nikon, and Sigma mount as the other brands are all slowly converting to APS-C in camera IS systems?

They could put the OS on the 135-400 and make a killing, people need OS!!

Nah, that lens is meant to be economical, I agree with the 120-300, 70-200, 50-500. I was gonna say the 300-800, but I don't think anyone shoots that without a tripod.
