I think I can't have 2. I have to have all 17-40, 24-70, 70-200. The bag fits them all, so why not? I only had the two shorter zooms on vacation in the mountains and regretted I didn't get the 70-200 before. I could have gotten close-ups of some interesting bears.

Just how heavy is that lens? Do you need a monopod or tripod to steady it?

No Freaking Joke!!!
That would be so awesome... It would be the ULTIMATE lens. I love the wideness, and the reach. I just hate that it is so slow... And i wish it was a little more sharp!!

Lets get Canon to do it.... 17-85 f/2.8L IS..... They would have to make it white too, just because:D :D
Weight: 3.1 lbs
Price: dont even go there!!! I would guess maybe $1900 USD?

i'd rather take internal zoom than a white lens, after all the complains from the 17-55mm owners.

and canon doesn't even do any white lenses that are not at least 70mm to begin with!

It's actually not that bad.. maybe a little bigger than the 70-200 IS... the range is unbelievable on it on a 5d... it has IS, so it's pretty usable. Plus you really only have to bring one lense.

My travel combo?

It's in my signature.

I take everything. I've travelled only once with only the Sigma 17-70mm. It worked very well, and I was more than satisfied with the results I got, but found myself wishing I'd have brought more gear...

My preferred travel setup would be...
a nice and light 350 or 400D with the Sigma 18-200.
uber light, small, and never have to change the lens.

i'll carry my sigma 17-70 and canon 70-200. i'll have coverage from 17-200...which should suit me well for most of my pics.

Well...

I'm traveling with 10-20 Sigma, 17-50 Tamron, 70-200 Sigma, 2x TC. All fits in a Pelican 1400 hard-shell case with my 30D along with room for a couple batteries and the charger. 17-50 probably will see the most time on the camera, with the 10-20 possibly taking the lead. I've pondered leaving the extra reach at home, but... when you want it, you want it.
