Calicokat,

Outstanding glass both the lens and the subject matter :) That lens is tack sharp!

I bought the EF 100 MACRO and I used it to document my wife's jewerly collection for insurance purposes. What a great excuse to buy a new lens :)

thanks for the comments, I am loving it so far :)

i honestly couldn't say, i've never used the ring light. I can give the twin a good endorsement though, i wish the flash duration could be shorter though as with the 180 i can still get camera shake when the flash is the sole illumination.

Thanks for the info, I will continue to research this matter

With the working distance of the 180 I'd suggest the MT-24EX macro twin-lite over the ring-lite. It's more powerful and more versatile.

You'll need to get the Macrolite Adapter 72C to make either of the macrolites fit the 180.

So far, its tough. I was thinking of the ring light eventually. Any one have experience with the 14 ringlight

Congrats on the new lens Jim..:D

Can't help with the 14 ringlight but I have the 24 model and it just rocks..;)

Macro is an amazing world!

Remember that you can also use TCs with the 180L - to further increase working distance. Extension tubes increase magnification, and the life-size converter does both.

Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated. This sounds and looks like a ringing endorsement for the twin lights :)

i think usual problems with any equipment withstanding the twinflash is very good, it offers a good amount of control over lighting as far as position, ratio of A+B bulbs etc.

there is calicokat, a most involved section of photography. This is why i love digital so much, i can't imagine how i use to get by on film lol I was so worried when i sold my mamiya rz kit, only because to be honest i lost alot of money, but i have more than made up for it now offsetting the cost of buying film and film developers plus the time it takes to scan the negs, which is a friken age lol
