There are a few wide angle lenses, one with 94 degree view, another has macro capabilities and several are between f1.4 and 2.8...It's the price that will determine what I get in this range, and when I get it...

I'm retired and now am on a budget...

This most recent gas price break makes enough of a difference to justify an additional lens this year...We here in PA are also getting a property tax reduction applicable soon (possibly this year already, or 2007) that difference again will allow buying more stuff...

you could always sell the lenses you dont use...

I'm also considering getting a new Rebel 400D the one with 10.1MP as a back up camera...I'd go out on field trips with two lenses ready for action...

I hate to change the lens in the field cause of wind/dust.

However, I don't see it happening this year...For all I know the present 30D camera might end up as the back up in a couple of years...especially the way Canon introduces so many new models each year... I'd just get the body of a fancy new Rebel...
