Ok, so I recently (Tuesday) decided to make the (semi)jump to digital and acquired Canon rebel XT. I got past my initial reaction (freaking out and intimidated) to my newly acquired camera and dove into the manual.

Today I couldn't wait to try it, and since my workaholic husband was working til late, and I flashed the soul away from my poor dog while playing with settings, I ran to my SIL's and took pictures.

So far I can say that:
1) the resolution is unbelievable.
2) It will be a while before I can find the perfect setting in order to use my external flash.
3) I can't wait to take pictures with natural lighting.

Is it normal for me to feel like i'm cheating on my Canon A-1??? =(

Any feedback would be appreciated - tips, suggestions, breathing techniques to keep panic away (j/k), etc. Thanks =)

P.S: I added the yellowish tint with PS to add warmth.

Great shots. You should be a model.
Good luck with using/learning your camera...

Welcome to the forum, and beautiful shots. If I read your post correct, that is your sister-in-law? She is very pretty.

The shadows kill it a little for me - looks like shes right against the wall... have her move out 3-4 feet if possible and that should take care of the shadows

so SIL is sister in law??? ahhhhh.... ok cool. ;-)a

nice pictures. I think they have lost a little in compression but they look really good. I love the last one and the third is really good to..... I think the shadow is slightly off putting, but still nice pictures :-) and an extremly pretty sister in law....

go round and do some more :-) put some distance between her and the wall behind, also trying boucing the flash off the wall or the cieling for a software light (if you have a flash gun)..... seeing as you have such a beautiful eager model you should be producing loads of amazing pictures :-)

thanks for sharing....

Welcome to POTN, the best Canon place around.

Photos look really good. The light is not bad at all, shadows a bit of a problem but I like the shadows on the face. Pretty lady too.

Welcome! :) I agree about the shadows, but you can take care of that with the advice from above, or PS it out. Anyway, Enjoy the new camera!!!!!!

The shadow is a problem. Try bouncing the flash of the ceiling.

Very good first try.

These are excellent considering you are using the flash...other than the few mentioned shadows the lighting and colors are great....and apparently you have someone who will make a great model for you...we'll be seeing yoiu in glamor section in no time!
