well i guess i should explian a little...

it was the boy's birthday, he got a lot of fishing gear, and in one of the packages was a filet knife, ironically, we were having trouble getting into the package, so we had to use another knife, and sooo... the boy is holding the package, as the father moves in with the knife

ive never really had the chance to use, and use it correctly.. well i hope i used it correctly, we havent gotten into flash at school yet, just ambient light, but indoors and lowlight, its just hard to get a good picture without 100% still people, and a tripod
so i figured i whoop it out and see what it can do

The light looks natural, which is the whole point of bouncing flash. Good shot!

Looks good to me but I really struggle with flash lighting. It is clearly a fun/gag shot and not violent.

what about against women? there is a 16x20 picture of me holding a rope with a noose on the end, with my wife's dead/neck in said noose, this picture hands in our living room for all to see. I think it's a given that all of us are against domestic violence, however, this is just a fun shot, I mean, the kid is smiling, not really a look I would have if someone was really gonna stab me.

The kid is smiling but the kid has no idea someone is about to stab him.

I understand how it could be taken in jest, and I took it that way. It is I'm just not a fan of violence towards kids or really women. I wouldn't have a picture of me trying to kill my wife or kids in my gallery or hanging in my home.

That does not mean I can't appreciate the art or creativity that was used in creating the shot. If I'm going to have something hanging around the house it would be more like this...

Taking it too seriously is bound to make u dislike it.
Forgetting that it is posed, even IF it were candid the scene couldnt make me believe for 0.005 of a second that he was going to stab the child as the facial expressions just dont tell that story.

Anyway nice looking photo, Im very new to photography and have just now learnt from you/others that bouncing flash = natural looking light. It looks great well done
