Followed up on the B & H compatibility charts and Tamron does not offer the chart...There is written jargon re: compatibility for the different models of the Tamron TC's on each of their web pages, but no chart...

Only Sigma and Canon have the compatibility Charts; link is under "Specifications or Description" on each lens respective web page.

Good Luck with your hunt...

Thanks.

The Tamron works with everything else I've got, although I rarely use it. Probably wouldn't hurt to sell it and get something that'll work with the Bigma...

Steve, which model is it? I might be interested if it is the cheapo black one.

FYI: I'm serious on getting all the info on these lenses before I buy one of them...Since I'm retired, I've had lots of time to read this stuff over the past few months...

Also found a comment on the doublers being used on long lenses, among Amazon.com customer reviews of Canon lenses and the two sizes of TC's...

Some combinations of doublers (1.4, & 2.0) and lenses didn't work because (the mirror locked up) shutter wouldn't work cause the light is way too low...

Congrats Steve, you can use it now with your BushHawk set up too. Is it new and the DG version? Regardless, you'll enjoy this gem.

Yep, it's the DG version...

To be honest, the price had a lot to do with it. I bought a second 20D, a grip with a battery, and the Bigma for $1,450.00. I was, in fact, leaning towards the 100-400mm, but this was simply too good a deal to pass up.

Essentially, the decision was either to buy another lens, or buy a complete second rig.

Wow! That was a great buy!

Yeah, I put the two of them on the camera last night and got nothing. If I have to sell the Tamron and go with something else, I certainly will...

I tried my 80-400 OS with a 1.4x extender II last night. The weather sealing on the extender prevents the lens from mounting on it. Don't know if the mark I would be different. As a result I just bought a sigma 1.4x TC in canon mount. It will work with my 80-400 and my Bigma. I use the Bigma mostly on a tripod, so having to manually focus won't be an issue.

It's great that you mentioned the "weather sealing" portion of the TC creates inadequate spacing...

Having read some 30 reviews here and every where else I could find one, on the Bigma and also TC's, you are the first to mention it...

Therefore it lends itself to purchase both the Canon brand TC for L lenses and a Sigma for many others...

Wow, guys this is intricate stuff...

Yours if you want it.

I think I paid $129.00 locally. B&H has it for $109.00.

I don't know if I have the box; I'll have to dig through the closet.

$75.00 plus 3% for PayPal and it's yours. I'll pay to ship...

Steve you got a 20D and grip AND a Bigma (digital?) for $1450?! Holy cow man you got a steal! You could sell the 20D for $850 easy and the bigma only cost you like $600 bucks. Good deal I'll say. Congrats!

I also got the BG-E2 and a battery.

It was a local guy selling them; originally listed them back in June. I wasn't really looking to buy either another 20D or the Bigma, but this deal was too good to pass up.

It also came along at an opportune time, as I sent my other 20D in for some warranty service today.

But, yeah, I'm more than satisfied with the deal I got...
