Wireless Remote operation

I am confused! For a few months I have often used the wireless remote for shooting. It worked well.
Now, my remote will not work! I have installed a new battery in the remote & changed many settings; but it still won't work!
What may the problem be? I have read the manual in terms of being directly in front of sensor, not too much light near sensor, and I don't have a macro ring!
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm new with digital photography and my G2. I have not used the remote control as of yet. If it worked till you replaced your battery 1. you may have put the battery in 'upside down' or 2. have a bad replacement battery. If that's not it go over your user guide and settings again.

I'm not saying you didn't and I am far from knowing any other suggestions but give them a try. Good Luck.

I wore out a remote by using it a lot! They are made quite cheaply and eventually the contacts became less reliable. I had to press harder with only occasional success. I was able to program an older programmable TV remote and used that while I ordered a replacement from B&H. Perhaps this could be your problem too?

THE REMOTE is DEFECTIVE!! I originated this topic & since have taken camera & wireless remote to Canon Customer Service. They have found the remote to be defective & it is non-serviceable! They will replace it BUT they are back ordered on the product!! (Canon in Canada).
Hopefully the new one will arrive soon.
As has been suggested by another user ... maybe these remotes are not too reliable!!
