Sigma 10-22 for $407
or Sigma 24-60 2.8 for $322

I want the 10-22 because I like the 10mm and think I need it more than the 24-60 but I like the price on the 24-60 better and it will be an easier sell to the wife.

I am trading in a Sigma 25-50 that doesn't work on my 30D.

My other lenses are 35-105 and 75-300

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

If you want to do landscape or other wide angle photography, I vote for the Sigma. The gap between 20 and 35 should be manageable. $407 is a good price for it. I thought it went for around $500 new at B&H.

10-20,
24-60 is not a very useful range on a crop. A 18-50 would be better for walking around.

If you like 10mm, nothing else is going to work.

I should think the 24-60 overlaps too much with the 35-105. 10-20 is an entirely new range for you, so will expand your capabilities much more. I like the extreme wides (used to have a 17mm for my 35mm film cameras and hope to get the Canon 10-22 soon), you can use them for lots of things.

Damn you guys! :D Yeah, that is what I have been thinking. You guys are going to make me spend more money. Got to whisper sweet nothings into the wife's ear now.

What can I expect from the 10-22 IQ wise?

I just need to get it in time for my trip to Bodie,

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

IQ of the Sigma 10-20 (not 22) is pretty good. check out photozone.de and Popular Photography's review of the lenses.

probably an ad at one of those scam artists sites.
I've seen around $470 or so from reputable sellers.

I didn't even realize sigma makes a 24-60. I've got a Sigma 24-70 and LOVE it. I've also got the 10-20 and have a deep affection for it as well. :)

Looks like Sigma line is moving up a step higher.
How are those Sigma 30mm primes?

Negative. I am trading in an old lens that is not compatible with my 30D. Sigma does not have any parts to upgrade the lens and don't make the lens anymore. I called Sigma and was told that I could trade in my 24-50 and receive the 10-22 only having to pay $407.

And yes it is my mistake. 10-20 not 10-22. I confused with a work thing.

Outstanding!!! Remember that it works only on an aps-c or 1.6 crop camera, like your rebels, 20d and 30d's.

This lens lives on my 20d most of the time!

Syntrix, how is the focusing point? Is it accurate? Any front or back focusing issue?
I'm really thinking bout getting one of this lens since I know for sure I can never afford a full frame body...

I think the front/back issues were just a few of the early ones. I'd buy new just to be sure.

The 30mm f/1.4 is a very good lense in the right hands. Focusing is spot on, but this is on a 20d. I've seen some issues on the rebels at very low light, but it's a fuction of the camera's autofocus, not the lens. The same results showed with a nifty 50 at very low light.

I'd recommend it, and I'd recommend a local shop where you can test it out on your body first!

Overall, it's not cheap, but this lens is a workhorse and for me, it produces quality images over and over and over and over again.

Just my 8 pesos!
