When money is an issue, saving a little on a lens can be important. Anyone have any negative (or positive) experience with reconditioned lenses? I recently bought a Sigma 24-70 from an individual here and it had problems with the auto focusing, so I'm leery of "used".

Thanks, Calicokat-that is what I want to hear. :) The ones I am looking at are at BuyDig.com and say "Reconditioned by Canon".

I can't speak from personal experience, but I have heard it said that reconditioned lenses have been individually checked out and calibrated by a technician as opposed to just coming off of the assembly line and given a quick QC check, so it is certainly possible that factory reconditioned lenses would be a good deal. My guess is that the biggest drawback would be lack of selection.

Good thing about being remanufactured by Canon is you get a warranty.
