The new lens was delivered this morning. Almost the first thing I tried was putting the Life Size Converter behind it to see what would happen.

This first shot is a bluff about a half mile away, on the tripod at 400mm.

These next two were after I put the LSC on. From the tripod, about 8 feet from the grasshopper and about 25 feet from the tangled tackle. The focus limit was about 35 feet or so.

Oh yeah, I use my LSC with all kinds of combos. If I use it with all by tubes and the 50 I get super macros, not sure of the magnification but at least 2:1

Jim, what do the Kenko tubes do with the 100-400? The LSC isn't really much good for sharp macro pics, but the tubes, with no glass might be.

I have used the tubes experimentaly with the 100-400. They sure give you good close-up shooting from a good distance. Even with IS I used my monopod to get clean shots. I find the LSC is great for sharp macro images. I tend to use the LSC and the tubes quite a bit with the 70-200 to give me powerful macro with great range, the size of the subject determines the combo. Often the magnification is too much for something like a dragonfly so I drop something off. This is an uncropped example of the LSC with full tubes on the 50 f 1.8.

The eggsack on the spider, who was munching on her mate, is about 3/8".

I am looking at the 100 - 400. The bluff shot, is that a crop, or is that the whole frame?

No, that's not a crop.
