I don't know what's going on this summer or maybe it's just the park I have been frequenting lately that has rewarded me 4 times now with extremley approachable Great Blues, this is from last Friday where I was able to approach this Great Blue to within my minimum focusing distance of the 200 F2.8L, hope you all enjoy C & C welcome and appreciated, none of these are cropped, just resized for the forum

#1 thought before I moved in I should try for a reflection shot

Holy crap... awsome job. Either you really understand how to approach animals, or this bird is a zoo. Great job. I can't even get close enough to fill a frame with the bird.

Not all GB's are shy. I was sitting on a marina, talking to a couple old ladies who fished there every day for Crappy. Old Blue just walked up behind them and started eating fish out of their 5 gallon bucket.

He got about 5, before one of them saw him and shooed it away.

Me? I was too stunned to do anything. Caught between the worlds biggest belly laugh that would have hurt, and shock to see this bird be so bold. :D

Amazing work, Wayne. I can't imagine getting that close to one that could fly away.

Gorgeous detail in the last two especially :)

Doesn't is stink when your lens's minimum focus distance is your handicap ;):)

Excellent shots Wayne, it is special when a bird lets you get closer than normal. Great series.

Very nice series Wayne. I love the head shots with the third being my favorite for the good exposure and detail. Focus is dead on. Well done!
