A 70-200 F4L! Yesterday I decided that it was time to bite the bullet and eat grilled cheese for the next few months, and I went and picked one up after work.

My first impressions are positive! I haven't played with it much yet, but I did take a shot at something like 70mm @ 1/40 ISO 3200 and it looked amazing. Unfortunately I deleted that shot already, but trust me, it was good!

I'll have to go find the requisite ducks and post some pics, but for now, a bit of lens candy:

Good stuff, I remember when I got mine last year. That is one dangerous lens ya know! Once you get used to the sharpness, you'll compare every other lens to it! lol

That's so true... The images this lens produces are unbelievable.

I'm jealous. I am renting one in a couple weeks. My fear is that once I return it, I will be putting in an order real quick! Congrats!

Very nice. I used to own this lens and then upgraded. But I did like the images produced!

Thanks for the comments everybody!

I really wanted an F2.8, I was going to get the Sigma to save a bit of money, but decided I could work just fine with the F4. Judging by the performance I got last night at 1/40, I think I'll do just fine :D.

Congratulations on the new L! The 70-200 f4 was my very first L, which I sold for the Sigma 100-300 f4 (great lens by the way), then sold that for the 70-200 2.8 IS. While I love the 2.8 IS, I still miss it's little brother, so much lighter and fantastic images. You are going to love it.
