If I may butt in (to MY thread :p), I've tended to always follow the 1/focal length rule when shooting, but some shots at this event were done at a long focal length, and with low shutter speeds. I was actually very amazed at how sharp a lot of the pics turned out after I broke my rule, it just further goes to show how nice this lens truly is.

I don't remember every shutter speed, because I did shoot in Av mode to help me out a bit, but I do know that some of them were quite slow.

I used to follow the 1/focal length 'rule'... Now I think of it as more of a 'suggestion'. I am normally pretty steady, and can get good shots at 1/half focal length or more, most of the time. I also shoot Av and try to keep an eye on my shutter speed. Actually, to be more precise, I keep an eye and an ear on it.
