Thank you! I never know how much to sharpen the image. I don't want it to look overdone. I really appreciate you including what you did to the photo as well.

Too much eye makeup and too much contrast on the original post.

View her eyes at 100% magnification while you make adjustments with unsharp mask. When it looks like you've gone a bit too far, save and print!

Daughter is in that "eyeliner" phase and mom doesn't know what she is talking about when I tell her to lesson it. One day she will learn. When it is time for her senior pictures (this spring), I will be taking her to someone to have her make-up professionally done...maybe THEN she will understand what I am trying to tell her now.

Thanks for your comments.

No problem. The first one (10/70/0) is not totally nessacary, it just increases the contrast of the picture slightly. The second one (250/0.3/0) is the one that makes a real difference.

Oh, I forgot, I also did an eliptical marquee (feather 100) around the central part of the picture - her head was encompassed by the 'marching ants'. I then inverted the selection and made a level adjustment layer. I set the middle input to 0.8. This darkened the area around her while her face and body remained the same.

If you don't understand, I can make a few instructional pictures in photoshop.

Andrew.

I understand, thanks for the explaination. She likes the photo as it is, BUT that doesn't mean that I can't play with it.
