More info | According to the exif you have your settings in line that you should be getting better results. As has been previously suggested use AI servo if the rebel has it and I find using only the center focus point yields good results for me. Also use custom function 4-1 if your camera supports it. As Fee said just keep shooting. The kit lens isn't known to yield consistently great shots but you should be getting better results then this.
