Saw this midday today. Dunno what the name is. The feathers are dark purple... but the eyes!!

I think it's a Satin Bowerbird. These birds make an interesting construction called a bower and decorate it with anything that's blue (flowers, rubbish, plastics, etc). The best decorated bower wins the female.

Nice pic.

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.
