Here's sharing a couple of Philippine Giant Fruit Bats in flight over Subic rainforest (Philippines), both taken with the hand held 1DM2 + 400 5.6L ...:)

Great shots Romy, Love the detail in the wings. Are these Nocturnal normally?

Thanks, Greg.

Yes, they feed during the night and hang at tall trees during daytime. Sometimes, they fight for territory and the vanquished has to fly off to look for another branch to hang on. This is when I try to catch them in flight...:)

It's like something out of 2000BC. Just needs Raquel Welch to complete the series!

Well, I won't sleep tonight - thanks!

Those critters are creepy. But the photography is excellent. Nice shots with great detail. I'm reading some of these reach 6 foot wing spans? How big were these?

Awesome in flights Romy! I was told long time ago they would turn into ashes when hit by sunlight. Guess that's not true. :D

Amazing Romy,. simply stunning. In my life, I have never seen an image that conveyed the essence and details of thse creatures in flight as well as yours do. I can count the toes, see the viens in the wings, and I even think I see his wanker!
Imagine them without the wings, and suddenly they are little critters, almost dog like.. (little tiny dog)

Thanks, everybody.

CDS, I had to control pushing the shadows too much in the underside area.... otherwise the pic might get an X-rating.....
