Cider You've won me. Any shot of a Pelican in flight does it. They're such graceful lumps in flight and when they ski to land. Nice shot and detail in the Hardhead too. (Thats the duck with the white tipped bill)

Cider - keep an eye out for 4 people there

one is a bag lady who tows a supermarket trolley of bread and feeds the birds - you will get some incredible shots of a human covered with the cockatoos

Another is a chef called Matt - he carries a 350D and knows where most of the birds nest - like the tawny frogmouth owls

There is a guy who wanders around in the early mornings smoking a pipe. Stinks the place out but he can also tell you where the rarer birds nest/sleep

One of the rangers is a keen photographer - he will usually come over and introduce himself - his first question is usually "Pro or amateur?" Always say amateur - cos if you say Pro he will ask to see your license to shoot there - he also will be able to tell you where the best places to find the 'hidden' birds and will also, if you get chatting with him, show you some of his pictures. He does some pretty good prints on a 'canvas' paper.

Good luck with your shooting there - we recently spent a great few weeks there shooting a pair of Sea Eagles.

Before you get to the caravan cafe, there is a fork in the road. The caravan cafe is on the right fork. Take the left fork and go around 4 to 500 metres - there is a copse of trees - there were 3 owls in there but 1 disappeared - last time I looked there were 2.

go a little further and the tree line opens up by a bridge structure. You will normally find Matt and the pipe bloke somewhere between the trees, the bridge and the lake, in that triangle, from about 6am to about 8am.

The woman with the supermarket trolley - she is usually there around 3-4pm over between the caravan cafe and the restaurant.

There are some Centennial Park birds in my 'gallery' under animals that aren't very good but show some of the Sea Eagles and owls.

Thanks Cider.

The ducks in a row were right by the caravan so if you are shooting around there, you will see that quite often. The eye of the pelican was taken there, too - silly bird let me walk right up and take the picture - I was about 3 metres away.

It's a great area for bird pictures - all around the park - and as the seasons change you will see remarkable changes in the photo opportunities.

Good luck with your shooting there - it's a fantastic resource.
