I spent a day looking after my 20 month old nephew yesterday. Got some great shots of him playing in the pool, but I don't post them here.

I also tried something a little bit different here. Lots of shots from my daughters 7th birthday party today at the 10pin bowling. Very challenging lighting if you're not going to use a flash, but again no web shots.

welcome spoonford, hope we will see you at our brisbane gatherings.
elise, your kitten is just tooo cute!

Did some shooting at lake manchester this morning, stopped at a creek bed, very dry in parts. Twas a very friendly duck there, i lay on the grass to take it's photo, and i got attacked! not sure if it was randy or hungry, but it had fun nibbling on me He trailed us the whole time. PP tomorrow morning for me. god i need a longer lens! Some beautiful dragonflies there, but hard to catch. Got some poses, but need to crop a lot.

Hey guys - keep an eye out for a new photographer from the 'gong. Butcha27. I sent him/her the link - but if he/she started from page 1 it may be a few days before they get this far... :)

oh no. I have only ever done that once. I tend to download from the camera these days, or if i do use the card holder, i put the camera on the desk with me, so when i have downloaded, the card goes straight back into the camera. I don't have a spare yet, that's my xmas pressie!

On Saturday I got my new 24-105 and a filter. I'll just recommend that the guys at Paxton's (macquarie shopping centre, sydney) are awesome.

It should have cost $2000 all up, but the salesperson was able to knock it down to $1770!

Cool - $1685 in North Sydney (without the filter) so it's good to see Paxtons are starting to realise they won't get the deals unless they start to look at their prices.

I haven't used one but I am told they are a great lens. Be sure to post some pix and show us :)

Does anyone know what this lizard is called? I can't find it in any of my guide books so, until I get an ID, I am going to call it Fred! :)

LOL

um - bugger - you mean I got the sex wrong, too?

Sex-ed 101 for me this week! I may have to wander into the National Museum and ask them...

I found it beside a sorry looking waterfall in the Brindabellas during the week. I went up to look at one of Canberras water supply dams (and that was a sad sight) and was going to ignore the Gibralter Falls because the DEH site said it was closed because of the drought... It was certainly a trickle rather than a flow

and there I was with the 100-400 strapped on - hell of a lens to try closeup shots on these things with - but the 16-35 I had in my pocket would have been too much the other way... I would have been too close.

Hi Kiwi, my guess is that its a Eastern Water Dragon. Due to the smaller size it could be a female:D. The males get real colourful during the breeding season. The black & yellow in the first shot is usually matched by a redish stomach.

Cool, thanks Greg - one question - how big is that one in your pic? Mine is no longer than 150mm nose to tail. Yours gives an illusion of being much larger.

Both were getting close to being 400mm long tip to tail. The head shot in no 1 is close to being 1:1, not that I aimed for this just luck. Maybe a juvenile female or it might not be a dragon after all. A lot of help ain't I;)
