Hi all.

FYI, my Tokina 12-24/4 is on the market :-(.

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=260333

Just don't use it often enough. Plus I'm planning (hoping?) to go full frame in the foreseeable future.

Anyway, just in case anyone's interested.

How have you been Luke? Spydery goodness is great... was suprised at the difference it made! :)

If i didn't just splurge on two new lenses... I might have an impulse to try out that... :) My splurges were also related to the possibility of going FF... but probably after the 5D2/6D/whatever they're gonna call it is a bit more established.

Hey Wakko! Glad the Spyder is working out :-) My pro version arrived a while ago. It's not really any different, except the software is slightly cooler. I feel jipped! (well, kinda ;-)a)

Pity you don't wanna try the 12-24 out ;-)a ... oh well, hopefully someone else will.

I've been fine. Pretty busy Christmas ... hopefully we'll get a holiday a bit later in the year. Meanwhile it's gonna be a big photo-taking year!!

Hi everyone! Sorry luke, I can't buy it either, it's a bit too expensive for me ATM. It's one I'd have to save ages for. Is it a wideangle? What kind of pics would you get with it?

Actually, I'm looking at buying a new lense for a relatively small amount of money. I'm thinking of the 50mm f1.8 at this stage. Is there any other lenses in a similar price range worth taking a peek at?

Took the kids to the park today and found a bunch of corells sitting in a low tree. They were only about 10-15 ft away sitting in the tree being all loveydovey LOL..... They are really strange looking birds and I'll share some pics of those after dinner.
Sadly another love affair of mine has crept in over photog time during the yucky days. I've been stuck playing World of Warcraft and it's loads of fun!

Hi Elise,

Yep, 12-24 is 'ultrawide' ... not quite a fisheye, but extremely wide!

The 50/1.8 would be a good choice. Awesome for controlling DoF. You'll quickly become addicted to fast lenses tho! Don't say you weren't warned!

Oh yeah and don't get too addicted to WoW ... I saw somewhere that psychologists are treating it these days!!

Got home this morning from a new shift roster (so used to the old roster that I've not slept for 48 hours). Walked into the house to find my wife and daughter acting strange. Wife says she's taking daughter #1 to work with her and I should enjoy my camera today and left with a smile. Confused I bumbled around the house till 11 when #2 daughter went down for a sleep. I headed straight to bed to do the same only to find a parcel on my pillow.

Well I've still not slept.

In the parcel was a 2nd hand 24-70 f2.8L in almost new condition.

I had seen it on Ebay previously and mused to the wife that I wish I had one to use in my studio. We looked up the RRP on Canon's site and searched the Web for deals but I couldn't allow myself to spend that much. Well she bid on it and won it for under $1400 from a wedding photographer on the Gold Coast. I wondered why she was asking me things like "what would you ask when buying a used lens" & "how do lenses wear out" but put it down to being worried about the resale value of my gear.

Being too tired to go out and play I've been shooting inanimate objects around the house as well as chasing #2 daughter around. Suprisingly I've been able to find the required "duck" to shoot with my new toy.

Not the best shots I've taken but I'm having trouble even using the microwave right now.

Luke, don't worry about that..... kids won't let me get too hooked on it :). I play for a few hours at night after the kids have gone to bed and then I need to catch sleep to keep up with the kids hehe. I'm thinking a fast lense would be fantastic in my low lighting house. F3.5 doesn't quite cut it without a flash on.

Wardie, congratulations on the 'new' lense! What a wonderful wife you have :) . That's an awesome shot of your daughter.

Hey Elise - 50mm on that camera is cool - as you will know from the kit lens. The extra speed (aperture settings) in the nifty fifty will open up a new world to you. If you get one, just be gentle with it - some are known to be a bit fragile and a knock to the side can see the front falling off the lens! Many, many people, however, have used one without any problems at all.

Oh, Wardie! Magic. That wife of yours deserves a big hug for that one! Fantastic!

I am the proud owner of the Peleng 8mm Fisheye lens
