wow greg the detail in the first shot is amazing, great capture.

thanks Michael.

Welcome aboard Troopa, glad we could twist your arm in the right direction. Trouble is we are a bad influence on people it seems, member ship of POTN in general is not good for the bank balance - but great for the pursuit of photography:D:D;)

Welcome to the club Troopa. Seems to be a bushfire-smoky horizon down there.
Enjoy,

Comp was last wednesday. Didn't go. Too many distractions in canberra. Last weekend was cleanup the yard day, getting ready for a move soon... and therefore a club change.

G-day All. I've only just got onto this forum (and I'm not even sure how I got to the Aussie Club section) so I havent had time to look around much. But, I did see that you guys are taking some good pics, have good advice and are Aussies:D. So, I've regestered and hope to get involved.

First off. I usually regester as Hellbelly but that user name seems to be taken. Is he/she a regular poster or have I registered before without even realising it?

OK, a little about myself. I'm 35, live in Adelaide (hey, I like it). I love fishing and 4x4ing and have always loved taking pics of my trips etc etc. Up until now (well, still now) I've just had point and shoots. But I've taken the plunge now and I'm getting a 400D. I've been looking into them for a month or more now and should have one by next week (if not the week after). So far I've already bought a 2gig memory card, a battery grip with extra batteries and a canon 17-40 F4 L lens. I'll be buying a 50mm F1.8 as well as a Hoya circular poloriser and ND grad when I go to buy the camera body.

I love landscape shots but I'm really liking the Urban shots I'm seeing online these days. So hopefully I can start to get some of my own great shots.

Anyway, thats it from me for now.

Cheers.......HB.

Welcome aboard HB. Sounds like a nice kit you're arming yourself with there. The 400D is a great camera and I'm sure you'll love it.

Ross, did you start a membership drive for this weekend or something?

hi hb. I have the 400d, it is a great camera and you will love it. I mainly use the other spectrum of the lens range. My most used lens is the 70-300 (couldn't afford the 100-400). Did you use manual settings on your p and s? if not, bit of a learning curve for you. and post processing is a big thing too. All fun!!

Did I promise 17-40 shots did I? Woops!

I've only used it for one wedding shot so far (full group) ... the last week has been a killer busy-ness wise. I'll try and get out with it this week instead.

Cheers.
