Do any of you guys know who to contact regarding shooting local sports on a weekend? I want to shoot some local area soccer and etc, hopefully make a few extra $$ aswell...Do I contact the clubs I am going to shoot? or can I just go there and shoot?

contact the club, what age group? or the league, i contacted the nsw soccer league and they rejected my app for accreditation saying i needed to work for a newspaper or media outlet, i then found out they have 1 photog who somehow shoots 5 -8 games a weekend which all are played at virtually the same time (love to meet this guy), i found it hilarious that they want to limit it to one photog just for the sake of saying they have an official photographer and not spreading their coverage.

Wasn't looking at a specific age group but it would definitly be under 18's. If I apply for accreditation I will get rejected aswell, without a doubt. Maybe my best approach is to go into the local paper (still havent gone in yet, need to build up the guts!) and see them about shooting some local sport...in which I can sell whatever photos arent used for my profit if I sell them...

Andrew, if you're trying to get your foot in the door and build up a bit of a portfolio you might want to consider doing it for free (just so you can get the experiance).

That'd be the same storm that passed us here in Whyalla a few hours ago. I went and had a look but there was just too much cloud cover unfortunately. Good luck with it Andrew!

This weekend I went and checked out a local drag meet:

Nature put on a show tonight. The cloud cover you mentioned might just have helped the mood given the strikes were so close.

I love capturing lightning, just so lucky we get so much of it. I sifted through 30 odd good images. Here are a couple and a link to some more.

Posted a couple of dramatic shots in this thread:

Thanks for the help Dave, I tried it out today, and it takes a bit of getting use to, but is (much) better.

Hibiscus garden invaders 1 to 6

I took some others as well but don't really like the way they turned out, a couple of different lady bugs and another red bug similar to the bug in invaders 6.

I really like to take photo's and want to learn. so please give CC and help me improve.

Andrew fantastic shots!! I'm shattered that I missed getting my camera out, was too busy consoling frightened kids! LOL

Geez you lot can talk hey. Think I had about 10 pages to catch up on!

ETA: Anyone in Adelaide know of any good PS courses? I know the basics but there's so so so much more I'd like to learn!
