Check out Adorama's price.

Adobe Australia are thieving scumbags.

Don't you know that Aussie electrons are more expensive.

I did actually start a maths degree and considered going into it as an academic.

Oh, and my middle names are Isaac Newton. Truly.

Oh you are cursed then. :p

Anyone a CPS member of Australia and want to try out the 1200 mm prime lens?
Spotted this on smh a few minutes ago. Was on the main smh page and it linked through to a story about North Ryde having one.

That is cool. I wonder what the insurance deposit on it would be.

Can anyone say POTN Aussie Club 1200mm meet up day. Everyone can chip in a bit!!

That new Sigma zoom weighs about the same - but, from memory, it's constant f/2.8 out to 500mm and only costs about USD$16000 (touted as the first 500mm f/2.8 lens).

I suspect that SMH reporter is quoting new price - B&H have had a secondhand one for sale for USD$99,000 for a while now.

If it was only a few grand you might be able to find 10 or so POTN'ers near to one location who are gear-heads sufficient to want to pay a few hundred bucks to have a whack at it ;)

Hey guys, I bought a WD MyBook Studio 500GB external hard drive preparing for my iMac - then got a change of heart and decided not to get the iMac.

Is anyone interested in the hard drive? It's literally brand new. $240 is what I paid for it; so that's what I'll be asking for it :)

Why the change of heart?

Comes down to cost.
Main reasons why I wanted to get the iMac is because it's compact (no box) and it's quiet. It has a nice screen too.

I'm spending a lot of money for a silent PC, whereas I could just buy a silent PSU for a fraction of the cost. It won't be a pretty, but I would rather spend the cash elsewhere.

Sound like the same reason I'm still persevering with my dodgy home-built pc with the dying HDDs.
