Comes down to cost.

Ahh fair enough. Its pretty much the same reason why we still run pc's here at home. Besides, the parts are certainly cheap enough these days and both me and my dad know enough about them to fix them when they go wrong. We wouldnt know where to start with a mac...

Modern Macs are all intel based anyway. But realistically you just take out an extended Applecare warranty and let them handle anything that might go wrong.

My 2001 vintage iBook is still going strong (if somewhat slow by today's standards).

No, the restocking fee is too much for me to warrant doing that. Failing this, I might be able to just put it up on eBay.

The cheapest I have seen this drive for is $299, so I think $240 is more than reasonable :)

Lol, what they charge for that is murder. That being said, I'm under the impression I get it for free due to my 'educational purchase'. I'll see when the MBP is delivered.

I just bought 2 x 500GB My Book's for less than $400 all up, from Harris Technology. USB though ... FireWire is more pricy. Which is yours?

Yeah, it's terribly pricey on the mobile line, BUT worth it. The Mrs has the second last model of Powerbook (15") and it had some overheating issues at one stage, all fixed under the Applecare agreement (new logic board, new hdd, many hours of labour) - paid for itself with that one issue.

I was hoping it'd turn up today (was quite excited by the parcel note in the letterbox), but no, it was RedBubble prints instead. Maybe tomorrow. (crosses fingers)

Not quite sneaky enough - I was going to surreptitiously add it to my gear list when it arrived and see if you noticed ;-)a

Anyone feel like giving some feedback? I've been staring at watermarks/logos for so long now I can't tell what looks good anymore :p

That look any good? Too varied with the effects or not?
