i was just there today. the one on fairfax. great store! i especially like that they have almost every model laid out with most of the lenses. they'll stick any lens on any camera and let you play with it for a bit.

my only qualm with them is that there are a couple of guys in sales that dont seem to care much for what i want, and prefer to make the decision for you on what to buy. one time, i came in asking if i could take a look at the xti/30D and the guy tried to get me to buy a d50 w/ tamron 18-200 lens.

That's too bad.. I don't have any experience with the sales guys..just the rental guys at Pasadena who were really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed for the weekend. Anyways, $35 to try out a $1600 lens is a pretty good deal.

Still reluctant, to try this pair on the 5D. Just don't know how it will 'work' for me? Still undecided on the lens...but the camera is on it's way.

I can guarantee 100% that these lenses would make you very happy :)

yea, that's a great deal, especially if you need the lens only on rare occasions. why buy it if you'll use it only a handful of times when you can rent it? :D

I placed my order for a Canon 30d, two lenses, and a flash from B&H on Sunday night. I got an e-mail saying my order had been submitted. I grew suspicious when the order didn't ship on Monday so I just called B&H and learned that my order was on hold to verify my identity. I understand the need to hold some orders, but I didn't get a phone call from B&H so if your order hasn't shipped yet you should call B&H and ask about your order status. I hope my order ships today.

Yep same thing happened to me but they called me. I had to fax them the most recent utility bill and they shipped the same day. That was with my $2,300 purchase last month. And yesterday with my $1,600 purchase, they didnt question a thing... My order has been shipped and will be here tomorrow.

Oh I just realized this but if you have an AMEX card (at least the AMEX Blue Cash card), remember that you have the buyer assurance plan where amex extends the manufacturer's warranty an additional year. So you'll have two years of warranty (first year- canon, second year- amex) on your camera or lens. There is also a purchase protection plan for 90 days where they cover the cost of fixing or replacing purchases up to $1k in case of accidental damage or theft.

Been an AMEX Blue Cash user for several years now. Haven't found many places where they don't except the card. Definitely using it to buy my 30D + 50mm f/1.4.

Lol... I only have about 8000 on my rebel, and had it for about a year and a half, so with two, i think the rate may slow a little, although i am starting weddings, so then it may rise... we'll see...

Yeah weddings will get you the most pictures. I was at my cousins wedding just last august and I had 2 Sony T9's, one in each hand with 2 GB memory sticks and took over 2,000 shots during that whole day. And it was a Cambodian wedding so there were millions and millions of shot opportunities. Hope the wedding things works out for you.

I only got about 20 crappy shots today, in a parking garage :(

Thanks for posting this..as it turned out when i placed my order my visa card balked at the checkout--0 balance on the card but the $$$$ + NY photo store probably set off some kind of fraud alert so I had to use my AMEX card..I use this card like twice a year so not sure if it has the coverage you described...physically the card is a clear card with a blue hologram/shiny sticker in the middle. Looks kind of cool actually..the first time i used it at a sporting goods store the teenage girl at the register said it was "tight" :)

No problem, when I realized the added benefits, I was excited about it. :)

Just looked through most of their cards and they all had the extra features I mentioned so I think you're covered. ;)

We're all happy for you. Now go out there and show us what the Rockies look like in the Fall:). Btw, since you live where you live and have a 5D, you are going to get a 17-40 as your next lens to take advantage of the double rebates, right?:) I can hear your camera screaming for one as I type:):).

My resistance is wearing down. Canon's marketing team can read me like a book. $690 savings on the 5D, 17-40 combo..... Lord please help me

Ordered from OneCall, price matched Amazon on both the 30D Kit + 50mm f/1.4.

I know I said I was only going to get the 30D body but since amazon had recently reduced the price of their kit, the difference in between the cheapest way I could get the body and kit pricematching at Onecall came to be $42.61 (according to my trusty spreadsheet, which I have been updating daily). And considering they were selling used kit lenses for over $60 without shipping in most cases on ebay (external link), I thought if I didn't like it that much, I'd just sell it and make a dollar or two later.

No matter what, I wanted to order from OneCall. Why?

Only way I could've gotten a cheaper combination was through ordering via Amazon but the difference was not much so I just paid an $8 premium for 3-day air from Onecall compared to Amazon's ground which takes 3-5 days to ship.

I'm a happy camper. Took me 2.5 years to take my wallet out and order a Digital SLR. :)
