Ordered from OneCall, price matched Amazon on both the 30D Kit + 50mm f/1.4.

I know I said I was only going to get the 30D body but since amazon had recently reduced the price of their kit, the difference in between the cheapest way I could get the body and kit pricematching at Onecall came to be $42.61 (according to my trusty spreadsheet, which I have been updating daily). And considering they were selling used kit lenses for over $60 without shipping in most cases on ebay (external link), I thought if I didn't like it that much, I'd just sell it and make a dollar or two later.

No matter what, I wanted to order from OneCall. Why?

Only way I could've gotten a cheaper combination was through ordering via Amazon but the difference was not much so I just paid an $8 premium for 3-day air from Onecall compared to Amazon's ground which takes 3-5 days to ship.

I'm a happy camper. Took me 2.5 years to take my wallet out and order a Digital SLR. :)

man.. and i thought i was the only one that had all the "Need to buy" on my excel. haha.. i've also keep an updated price on there too, so i know when the deal is a hot one or not.

Heh, I actually took a screenshot of my first excel in this thread somewhere cause someone wanted to see it. Since then it's gotten a bit bigger so that I could figure out the cheapest combination of pricematching I could do.

the spreadsheet request was mine. I am still debating on which lens to get...to get me the double rebate...but I have some time, so, waiting for all the 'guinea pigs' to test their new lenses and figure out which one might be right for me. The wife wants a macro...and me, I am not sure. Just going to have to wait and see.

My camera should be here tomorrow, though...so, hopefully I can tell what I would like. I might rent a couple of lenses, from lensrentals.com, and see which I might like/not like before I purchase it. Also, in Manhattan, there's a store (I think Alkit Camera) that rents lenses...so I might try and get one from them, for a few days. Let's see.

I did find a great deal on the camera, at dell's website...and acted quickly. I had to pay tax, but got free shipping...and no hassles -- better deal than B&H's price, regularly. 3 day shipping isn't too long...and now, the wait is almost over. Luckily, it's almost the weekend. Oh, and the wife also got a new piece of platinum jewelry...so, we are both ecstatic. hehehe.

Woohoo, congrats, we will need to see some pics now ;)

yes, definitely photos are needed... plz share.

The two pictures I was able to take yesterday were shot on the balcony looking out at the pond in our complex along with another building... Nothing special and I dont want to show it lol. It was for my mere enjoyment of seeing how wide this sucker was.

We're all happy for you. Now go out there and show us what the Rockies look like in the Fall:). Btw, since you live where you live and have a 5D, you are going to get a 17-40 as your next lens to take advantage of the double rebates, right?:) I can hear your camera screaming for one as I type:):).

My resistance is wearing down. Canon's marketing team can read me like a book. $690 savings on the 5D, 17-40 combo..... Lord please help me

Okay you must not know what it;s like here. Fall is gone and winter is here. We got 3-4 inches of snow the other night... The foliage is long gone... Last month at this time was the prime time.

There's always next year. :)

I dont know if I will take advantage of the double rebates. I just cant see spending $629 (539 after rebates) for 7mm in reality that is all I would be gaining. I think the 24mm is wide enough for me. If things get serious and I neeeeeed something wider, I will then think about it. But to me, 7mm would be mighty expensive in this situation.

have you considered the 10-22? i have the 24-70 on order (should be here today!) and my next lens is probably going to be that one, or possibly that 14 or 15 mm prime.

The 10-22 is an awesome lens, too bad there is no rebate this time

Ordered by phone last night at 10:45pm from OneCall. By 2pm, I received an email letting me know my 30D kit + 50mm f/1.4 has been shipped. Bad news is that it won't get here 'til Tuesday ... 3-day air is more like 3.5-day air.

In the meantime, I just bought two photography books (Understanding Exposure, The Digital Photography Book), and 'The Rock' dvd for total of $25. :D

FINALLY placed the first part of the order. I decided since I was just waiting on my damn Expense check I had enough for the 30D, 24-70 f2.8L, 580ex, 3021BPRO w/488RC2.. Next will be the 70-200 IS and a 10-22.... now to go do something to get this order off my mind..:~( .. Oh and I decided to order threw B&H.. I figured I could save 20-30 here and thier and hopfully everthing makes it but I said for a peice of mind I'll just stick with B&H..Thier prices like I said are only 20-30 higher then most reputible ONLINE resellers so MIGHT as well..
