I purchased the tamron 28-75 and returned it because it wasnt focusing well at all. I didnt really use it much either. I had a wedding yesterday and i rented the 24-70 and the 70-200f/2.8IS, I loved the 70-200, the 2.8+IS was amazing. But during the wedding, i realized that the majority of my shots were all with the 24-70. I found it to be an extermely useful focal length and combined with the f/2.8...it was beautiful.

Now, my question to you is...Would you upgrade an existing lens in your collection? or go ahead and fill a gap in your focal lengths?

I'm 99.9% sure im getting the 24-70, but i just wanted to get input from all the people that have influenced all my other purchases so far.

The 24-70 is the lens I use most for just about anything other than sports. It's extremely versatile even on a crop camera, IMO.

You loved the L, aren't so happy with the Tamron. Sounds like an upgrade is in order, if it doesn't financially kill you.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I agree, I planned to buy the 70-200f/2.8IS, so i had enough set aside for that. Luckily the 24-70 is much cheaper, so i can put aside the remainder and purchase the 70-200f/2.8nonIS in a few weeks when I get more cash.

thanks!

Yeah I'd get the 24-70 first. It may not be as sharp as the 70-200, but it's a lot more useful at weddings.
