I was just looking for a CP filter and came across this. I know I'll probably never use the warming filter, and the UV my come in handy for lens protection. Also I'll probably be getting the 70-200 F/4 in the future so they will fit more than one lens I own.

here's what i would do for a CP. as i understand it these are the same as the hoyas and are multi coated.

i use multi coated UV filters only. i buy the hoyas off of ebay.

At that price, they are probably at the lower end of the Hoya line of filters. If you're going to be sticking them in front of a L, then I'd go with higher grade filters. Nothing wrong with Hoya, I'd just go with their SMC, or Pro line of filters. No real need for a warming filter, as adjusting WB will do the same thing.

you mentioned you will be buying the 70-200f4, and that you're filters will be able to fit both lenses.

sorry to disappoint but they wont, the 70-200 has a 67mm filter thread, and the 17-40 has a 77mm thread. the 70-200 f2.8 has a 77mm thread. you can get adapter rings for filters.

the f4 is great, get a 77mm filter for your 17-40, it will get its most use there:) not so much use on a telephoto.
