Yes, I've noticed there's an extraordinary amount of members across the pond. I thought I might take this opportunity to ask them some sightseeing questions because I've always wanted to go to Europe.

Any tips for those wanting to visit London, and to get a nice tour in of that part of the world? Where to stay/where NOT to stay and general advice?

:)

Yep, theres a whole world out there;)

Are you only wanting to visit london? Or are you just looking for general ideas on where to go. Europe is incredible diverse, I couldn't tell you all the places ive visited in one post. I'd suggest going on a tour if you want to fit a lot into a trip. Take a look at the itiniarys for european tours by imaginative traveller, they may give you an idea of some of the attractions you might like to see, I went on a trip from Istanbul to Moscow that covered most of eastern Europe, I will definately be going back later in life:) Western Europe is different, do some research beforehand, decide how you want to travel. You can get interrail passes that allow you to travel by train across europe for various time periods, they're quite reasonable.

You could do worse than taking a look in the sections that interest you "travel & landscapes" or "urban". There's a wide variety of locations in there which will give you some good ideas for an itinerary.

Isn't it a Finnish website?

Regarding London, I can most certainly advise not staying anywhere in Victoria. Earls court used to be pretty basic. I don't know if it still is. Paddington was a reasonable place to stay a while back. Don't know if it still is

Actually, UK is inside the pond. :p

As to where to go and where to stay, as others have said, there's a multitude of regions to visit, all with different points of interest. It also depends a lot on the time of the year you're planning on visiting the old continent.

Cheers,
Jaime

Sorry about assuming its a USA based site. I have no idea who it belongs to!!

The specifics about the trip:
I want to see alot, but not feel like I'm in a huge hurry all the time. Over 2wks, I want to see London, Paris, and a sleepy oceanside European fishing village (I'm thinking photograph-fest on that one).

I suppose it'd have to be on a separate trip but I'd love to visit Tuscany, Rome, and French Riverera. Are the French really as inhospitable as everybody makes them out to be? I picked up some French as a 3rd language so maybe that will help.

The French are wonderful and they know how to cook. You could see a lot in two week it will just take a bit of research/organisation. With the Eurostar and the TGV in France; London , Paris, and the French Riviera are all possible.
