Too soft for my taste, but I like the pose and the lighting... I also find the thing under her robe at her chest to be distracting. Good shot though!

hey there great shot, which lens have you used? And any retouching? seems like gaussian blur to me but i could be mistaken! well done.

Yea, top of her hair is out of the frame/fading into the shadows.

The thing under her robe (dress) is her bra and I agree, it's distracting. It really didn't match the dress, but we were just messing around so I didn't really think about making it match at the time. I did try to tone it down in post (desaturated it) but I should probably clone out the design as well.

The lens was the 17-85... not my lens and only used because I wanted to try something wider than the 50 for a moment. This was shot at 35mm (which makes me long for the 35 f/1.4 that much more grr). Retouching, yea... removed some blemishes and what have you and yep, that's gaussian blur.

Thanks for the comments & critiques!

A very lovely wife and cute pose! The only thing I would do different is sharpen her eyes and lips a tad. It's still gorgeous.

I agree.Gorgeous wife BTW.

Thanx very much!

Ok... I did some selective sharpening on the eyes lips. I notice, especially when flipping back and forth between the sharpened/unsharpened version but I'm not sure it's that obvious.

I think it's a touch nicer. Try sharpening her eyes a little more, and her eyelashes too.

I like the catchlights in her eyes. A large, diffused light source is just going to have a large reflection.

Thanks, all!

I think I'm getting the Glamour bug though (101 posts to go!)... too many facets to photography... difficult to chose a favorite ;)

You've combined a great image and pose with a beautiful model. Just wait until the rest of the kit arrives and you get to play all over again - but with more options! :-)

Great shot, lighting looks good, the sharpening helped (sometimes the scaling/jpeg compression eats up the sharpness) the pose is very flattering. I dig the colors/sat., great shot. Check out my thread here, as you can see I dig the budget backdrop/DIY approach, I've got my eye on a setup from Alien Bees too.

Thanks for the comments! Michael, I like cheap too but convenience is worth a price in some cases! I got the BG system and its nice... an improvement over the sheet method... I was able to move about a bit more. I also gave the 580ex a try in manual 1/128. It fired the B800 and helped fill in some shadows. Here are a couple of shots:
