Is that a good lens, and a good price range?

It's not exactly a BAD lens for the money. It will at least give you something to learn with, and will expand your capablities.

sugarzebra Cream of the Crop More info | Oct 02, 2006 18:12 | #4 This lens doesnt enjoy the best reputation, but for $50 it certainly expands your focal range. You will be covered from 18-300mm (except for 55-75) which allows you lots of opportunity to make the kinds of shots you want while you save for better lenses down the road. The auction doesnt close for a couple of hours so you should be able to find some reviews on it, and also find out what typical selling prices are for it. Scott

The lens will be sufficient for a lot of work, especially as you are just learning how to work with a telephoto zoom. I have it framed 16x20, so you can be sure that you CAN get good shots with it.
