Havent seen much talk about this lens on the forums and I was thinking about getting it...why doesn't it seem to be a popular lens?

What do you all think?

I've been looking at that lens too. I found this link if you want to see some samples and comments.

I like this lens. It really shines in bright light where you can use f8. Below that it is not as sharp. Some say its not sharp at 400mm. My copy seems sharp at all focal lengths.

In that focal range, I always thought that the 100-400 was the most talked about lens in this forum.

before i forget, i also found that many "rumors" and myths about this lens are just that.

1) the lens doesn't attrect any more dust than other zoom lenses with changing lengths

2) a good copy of this lens is sharp even at 400mm. i use mine with a 1.4tc and i am really happy with the results..

Never said that I don't think people liked, just said that I havent seen much talk about it on the forum (at least the last few pages of the lens forums and not much luck with the search either) and so it seemed it wasn't as popular as other lenses....:) Glad that this is not the case! :D

But thanks for chiming in everyone, glad to hear you like it, think this will be my next lens for that upcoming rebate!
