Here is the same lens, new, with return policy, from B&H:

(Check out the price difference). I would go for this one, if on the same budget:

Just my opinion. BTW, Tamron has the equivalent to this Canon 75-300 III USM, but without the USM (means a bit noisier focus). Canon is the way to go for the money and performance. If from BHphoto, get either, if from other store, always get USA rather than imported. Difference? Warranty. You may not want to send a lens to Japan, but surely would send it to Irvine, Ca.

(I am not sure of the price tag on Farrukh,s suggestion, but if you check my Gear, I am a huge Sigma fan).

Good Luck !

Rank order taking price, quality, AF speed/accuracy, and durability:
1) Canon
2) Sigma
3) Tamron

canon's only there because of USM. i don't think it has better image quality.

and that tamron there is an older model, tamron has a new Di model which you can check out at their website. that is better.

The Reason Tamron (old) is there, it's because it is what the OP wanted to buy from ebay, at a higher price than BH.

I agree with all the above. Duco, good luck to you and either three will work. (Canon is the most silent, sigma will be loudest of three, with tamron in between sigma and Canon)- I have tried Tamron warranty though, and they are 100% on the ball).

And yes, as pointed above, for $150, you can get the new Tamron version of that Lens, with the Di Acronym I think.

Cheers,

I've actually used this lens, and many other consumer telezooms (has anyone else in this thread?Just wondering)
The tamron is amazingly sharp at the long end for this class of lens!Easily better than the canon 75-300 and even slightly beter than the sigma APO.It's weak point(s) are that the focus is slow (hopeless for sports)and it's ever so slightly less sharp than others at the shorter end (allthough still quite good)

Overall i usually recommend the Tamron to those that won't need fast focus speed. To those that can tollerate that it's an absolute bargain ,especially in the USA where it carries a 6 year warrantee i believe :D
