Hi,
looking at your exif your shooting conditions seemed tough, you did a good job, well exposed and good angle, I only ever see these guy way up in the trees.

Great shot ! I saw one today , but could not get a shot. I have never seen one on the ground.

I like the setting. Quite unusual to see a photo of a Pileated Woodpecker in an apple tree.
