Autumn in the 'stone park'

The last ice age more than 10,000 years ago has moved these stone to their current positions. These 'stone parks' can be found especially in the bifurcation area of the central Finland. Now the autumn is coming, the leaves lingonberries are getting to be very colorful.

There are not too much for the eye to catch (also the day when I took this picture about a week ago was very gray), but I find these rocky areas facinating and relaxing at the same time. (10-22@13, f6.3, 1/100s, ISO200, click for larger pic.)

I know what you mean about facinating and relaxing at the same time.
I`ve been studying lots of rocks lately Olli.
I too find them very photogenic and superb to shoot,especially from some certain angles.
Is that moss or lichen groing on them?

PS: Very nicely controlled,one thing i would comment on...and it could be monitor difference...i run a local contrast in PS and it looks much better.

Cheers Dimitri, thanks fo comments. That is mainly lichen growing on the rocks.

(I checked the contrast and that really needed to be adjusted. Any better now (the large pic)?)

Do you just mean that you're getting stoned quite regularly?

(PS for some of our readers from around the world "stoned" is a term for getting drunk, and not just for having boulders thrown at you.)

It's amazing what global warming can help produce, eh? Cool looking rocks. Are you allowed to climb on them?

I love the composition and the stones are great. I would like to see Dimitri's take on it though as I also like contrasty images.

Thanks all for your nice feedback. I'm currently on a short trip with very limited time to these freetime hobbies, but I return to this (especially to Dimitri's good hint) during the weekend.

And not only global warming but the cold spells in between. Though there are some natural parks on that are, you can freely climb and walk on these stones. There are plenty of those, I can assure.

Any further comments? (I think Dimitri's hint how to increase contrast brings great results.)

I`m glad you liked the idea of it Olli.
As you can see,that system gives you a nice and sharp contrast,without darkenning or sharpenning the picture much.
I`m glad i found out about it,i use it quite often.

Thanks again Dimitri, I hope many of us will try this method, as the result seem to be very visible, still the postprocessing needed is as simple as it could be.
