Hi - Localish, I'm in mid-cheshire but it's only about an hour on the M6. I do love the place, I was a very active birder who has drifted toward photography rather than twitching so it's a dream place for me.
Dave.

I live on the Wirral - so about the same distance from MM as you.

Now that sounds like an idea.

Dates?

Certainly sounds like a good idea but I've only just got my kit and have already spent about a grand and a half and that's just about covered me for smaller wildlife. I'm still a bit undecided about which "bird" lens to go for but whatever it's going to be around £1,200. I may be some time, also I may be divorced too :-)

I would be interested in that, it's only 30 minutes or so away from me. It would be nice to meet up with some others from here.

Oh, and the adage of 'always carry your camera' came home to me yesterday. I heard a very hawkish screeching outside my truck window, turned around to see a sparrowhawk half in a bush, about 25 feet away, wings flapping. It pulled out it's prey, dropped to the floor and proceeded to eat it in full view for about 3-4 minutes until a cat came and chased it away.

I could have got a great set of shots, especially as the cat leapt into the air trying to catch it as it took off. as it is all I have is the tale of the 'one that got away'.

When I am out in the country, I often have a camera with 100-400 mounted resting within easy reach for these occasions. Yesterday, I was on a modern housing estate so I didn't expect to see any interesting birds!:cry:

No excuses, Dave. ;)

Your 150mm will be fine for shots around the collection as they aren't hard to get close to :). I'm sure that you will be able to try out a couple of longer lenses on the reserve area, which may help you decide which one would be the downfall of your marriage. You would be welcome to have a go with my 100-400L for some shots.

Well, that's three of us (I'm assuming Damian is up for it, as he suggested it in the first place). :)

We'll numbers are growing! I'd certainly be keen - I guess a weekend would suit everyone best.

Bill and Kate are there for another week by the way.

Sundays are best for me as I work on saturday mornings. Having said that, if saturday is better for others, I can meet up with you all part way through the day (about 2-ish probably, maybe a little sooner if I eat lunch in the car en route).
