Do you suggest I do this? There is a chance of scratching my UV filter.

I takes a little practice, but unless you have very short fingers, you can tilt the cap and it will fit down on one side of the filter ring and then you push can down on the other side and it's on. After a little practice it's natural.

scratch your uv filter? are you using gloves made of sandpaper?
Don't worry, leave the filter on and don't use the cap, or just remove the hood and take off the cap, or get a center pince lens cap like from Tamron and you can take the cap off with the hood on.

Have you looked at the neoprene Hood Hat by Op/Tech? At the end of the day you would still have to put back on your lens cap but it would keep the dust off your lens while waiting for your next shoot.

Yea, my lens caps haven't touched my lenses for a LONG time. They just get in the way. I don't use UV filters either as most cause unnessissary flareing.

Glad to read about the them being hooded, at least you have the decency not to let them be completely naked in public. BTW, you have the nicest set up of camera and lenses. When I was younger I could had hauled all that stuff around but at 60 something and a bum rotator cuff I have lightened my load a good bit. Hell, when I was young I hauled around my Mamiya RB67 outfit.

Google "Hood Hat" + Op/Tech or here is the link to the Op/Tech:

http://optechusa.com …UCT_ID=16&PRODUCT_SUB_ID= (external link)

or Amazon.com has them along with www.bhphotovideo.com (external link). Search using "Hood Hat"
