Hi all. Just thought I'd share a pick with my new lens. I took it with me to Niagara Falls (will post a pick later). Took this pic of my wife while we were at Niagara on the lake. A beautiful town close to Niagara Falls.

How do you guys like this lens compared to the Canon 17-40L lens?

Just wondering how you guys get an image to be 100KB, and still retain the quality of the pic? I have the image in RAW, but can't manage to get the pic to be 100mb, and retain the quality? The above pic, was as best as I could get it. It looks much sharper in raw.

I use in Photoshop Save for web and setting of Jpeg high...usually my 800x600 are 100k and retain pretty much all its quality

I have this lens and i have compared it to the 17-40 and i found the tamron to be an overall better lens, personally. I know the canon has better build quality and focusing, but, the overall image seems to be sharper and more colorful with the 17-50. I have to do very little editing to my pictures. I also take the price difference in to consideration when comparing the lenses.

I agree. I didn't have to do very much in PS. I'm glad I went with this lens. So far I've not been disappointed.

This is exactly what I was asking in another thread. I use Paint Shop pro X and I don't see an option like PS. Is there an individual software to recommend?

Use the Windows XP power tool...

In the raw preview, right click then pick "save as" then save it as a jpeg (I put them on my desktop so they are easier to find *then keep them cleaned up after uploading*)

I right click on the file on my desktop, and select "resize photos" and pick the one to fit a 600x800 screen. Then I upload the reduced image. Should be around 100k or so.

Power Tools resizers the picture but not keep quality or optimise jpeg for upload. Is there a separate software for this?
