It's not the sharpest knife in the block, but it's still pretty good. It's in Canon's mid range - it's not a cheapo soft nasty lens, but not the build and image quality of the L range. Obviously will give you the advantage of IS and my copy is pretty sharp in the middle, but is Mr. Softy on the edges. Not a magic bullet, but still a servicible lens, particularly for casual shooting. Gear and Feedback
